A series of proposed interventions depicted from the narrative: Soho,
a circuitous community.
The city-contained neighborhood of London's Soho is surrounded by four
impassable arterials, creating a densely urban community that progresses
according to its own conditions.
Deviation, secrecy, anonymity, crime, fine dining, trespassing are layered
and pocketed behaviour that is immediately associated with the city conditions
of light (street lighting) and dark (passages, alleys, corners).
The project proposed 4 interventions: valve
(a new urban entrance curtain), merit bags (consumer shopping
bags that provide public street lighting), periscope (voyeur
vision system allowing characters to see around corners, into neighborhood
pockets), and moat (a peripheral traffic system using footpower
from residents to generate a directional travelator)
